J3/4 Competition
This is an interclub competition run by the YMCC Hockey Club at Perry Lakes on Saturday mornings for school based teams as well as YMCC teams. Teams are also invited from other local clubs. Games are played at 8.30am, 9.30am and 10.30am.
Group Training / Come and Try - To be determined
While teams are not yet resolved, YMCC will be running a Group Training Session. This will be on the TBD at 4:45pm to 5:30pm at Perry Lakes, for J3/4s (an earlier session will be run for J1/2s). This is an optional session so kids can start training, check out their equipment and get to meet other kids within the club while we finish finding teams for everyone. Those teams who are school based are welcome to come and be part of the club event, or run your own trainings as suits your team. We do however need help from the new season coaches to help run the exercises.
Season
The season will commence with Round 1 on the 4th of May 2024.

Games
The teams play on 3/4 size field with 9 players on the field at a time (no goalkeeper). The games are two halves of 20 minutes each with a 5 minute break at half time. No score is kept for the games and there is not a ladder.
Players will need a hockey stick, mouthguard and shin pads. Normal running shoes are suitable.
Teams
Teams are typically mixed boys and girls formed from children registered to play with YMCC.
Where preferred, teams may be school based, or mixed school YMCC teams. Teams will typically wear YMCC uniform, or if preferred a school uniform.
Teams must appoint a team coach and manager who will liaise with the J 3/4 Coordinator (TBC). YMCC can offer assistance in coaching, with training plans if required. Each team will receive at the beginning of the season a bag of balls, bibs and cones. These must be returned to the J 3/4 Coordinator at the end of the season.
School Coordinators
Each school entering a team in the J 1/2 or J3/4 completion should have a coordinator (volunteers please). This role is to help disseminate information, help identify which kids want to be part of a school based team and help the team appoint a team manager and coach. All players must be registered through the YMCC Hockey Club website.
Team Training
Default training for YMCC J3/4 Teams is Wednesday, 5:00pm at Perry Lakes, starting on a date yet to be set, (following the group sessions and school holidays). Individual teams, however, are welcome to select a time, day, or location which suits them and start training as soon as they like. Typically many of the school based teams will train at their school, before or after the school day, however they are welcome at Perry Lakes too.
In cases where team training time does not suit, children are always welcome to come and train with one of the mixed YMCC teams. Check with J3/4 Year group coordinator (Kath Shelley) for info on when these teams are training.
Holidays
There are no games on the weekend of the WA Day long weekend (Sat 1st June) or during the three Saturdays of the mid year school holidays (29th June, 6th and 13th July).
Wind Up Day
The YMCC J3/4 teams have a wind up day on a date to be determined.
Rules
The J 3/4 rules are modified to suit the age group and ensure safety. The coach may be on the field (but out of the way of the play) during the game providing support.

Fees and Registrations
The fees for the 2024 season for J3/4 are included here. For J3/4 we ask that you register by Thursday 28th March to best enable us to form teams. However, we will still endeavour to fit players where possible up to the end of April.
